We have one team eliminated from the 2024 playoffs, the Falcons. A 21-0 loss to the Cougars erased any chance of moving on.
And we have one team in the Championship game, the Phoenix, who, though they lost to the Raptors, hit the right factors to ensure tie-break wins over the Cougars.
How did that Raptors-Phoenix game go? The Raptors decimated the Phoenix, 47-22 and may have placed themselves on top of the leagues power rankings. If the Raptors are capable of that kind of beatdown over an undefeated team, then they should win the championship. Only stopped by themselves, the Raptors rolled to a 47-22 win in which the Raptors brought themselves to 2-2 on the Season.
Standing in their way is the 3-1 Cougars, who defeated the Raptors in week 3. GFL rules dictate that the first tie-breaker is head to head wins, the second is point differential in head to head games. The Cougar won by 9. To knock the Cougars out of the Championship game, the Raptors need to win by 10.
So thats the gist of it. An unbeaten team taken down, a team rising up from the brink. And a single game, to see who will play in the Championship.
